We are a blogging-duo and our blog is really young, and when we say young we actually mean new born. However, on our first day of digital life we’ve already discovered that there’s a huge, active and passionate community of travel bloggers who want to share their experiences and getting to know each other.
This is how we’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award, and we thank Jurga from Full Suitcase for nominating us and for trusting in our upcoming adventure. Jurga travels with her family and their full suitcases, starting their expedition from Belgium – where they live – and reaching all the kind of different places all over the world.
Now, let’s dive into the questions that Jurga has prepared for all the nominees:
What does traveling mean to you?
Traveling for us is not only about going from one spot on the map to another. It is more about discovering things, facts and people that we didn’t know yet. Traveling means exploring and being curious, taking a journey through time, culture and gastronomy.
What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?
Well…probably that wouldn’t sound very extreme to many of you. One of us, Ilaria, used to deeply fear the airplane and take all the kind of alternative transport to avoid flying. But when Paolo went for a three-month fieldwork in Buenos Aires he said to me “You have to come, because we are going to be happy here!”. Then I purchased the ticket and flight for 13 hours all alone over the ocean…and that was the starting point of my addiction to airplane journeys!
What are your top 3 favorite cities in the world? Describe in one word why.
Amsterdam: wet.
Buenos Aires: irregular.
Barcelona: easy.
If you won a trip of your choice, where would you go?
Antarctica, with no doubts! Taking a boat from Ushuaia, crossing Cape Horn and landing in the only one place in the world that doesn’t belong to any state.
Mountains or beaches?
Mountains, definitely (at least in this period).
What’s your most memorable travel experience?
A tour around the lakes in the North of Italy. We both studied in Bologna, and as graduation gift to ourselves we rented a car and did a completely random itinerary with no previous planning: Bologna – Pisa – Lake of Como – Brunate – Lugano (Switzerland) – Bellagio – Viadana – Bologna.
f you could give one tip for other travelers, what would that be?
If it happens to you to go in a hostel and meet a tall white-hair Swedish guy who gives you life and trip advises, follow him.
What’s the worst thing that happened to you when traveling?
Losing a wallet in Edinburgh. The issue was not about the wallet itself, or the money and documents. We use to collect one leave fallen from a tree in every city we visit: in that wallet I had four beautiful leaves.
What’s your favorite place in your home country?
Stintino. A tiny fisherman village in the north of Sardinia, the island where we come from.
Books or movies?
Books.
5 random facts about yourself.
Over the last three years, we have been living in 23 houses; 8 cities; 5 countries; 2 continents.
For many years Ilaria thought that taking the Trans-Siberian Railway was the most comfortable way to reach the Americas.
We want to adopt a dog that needs to be dumb, short and round-shaped.
Looking forward to buy a Royal Enfield motorbike, only because it will be delivered to your home from India packed in straw.
There is no possible way that we are able to cook a decent dessert. Never.
